Wacky, yet rewarding *spoilersish*

Went to see "No Country for Old Men" tonight. Fantastic. Wacky. Bleak. Very very good Cohening...

*NOT MUCH OF A SPOILER ALERT*
It is a fantastic movie. But, in typical Cohen style, it isn't what the average person might expect. That is to say, they start the movie with a voice over by TLJ, talking about how the world is going to shite, due in large part to the growing drug trade problem (it takes place in 1980)...and then the movie shows a story basically proving that point. But the GENIUS is, they tell you EVERYTHING that is going to happen. And they show a bunch of it. But, when the fit hits the shan, they DON'T show it. Because they told you. And then, they go back to the root...it is fanfuckingtastic. And ends. Just. Stops. It is great.
*PLOT DETAILS, SUCH AS THEY WERE, HAVE ENDED*

So, when we were leaving the theatre, we were talking about how smart that was...and as we got to the corridor, there was a quartet of late middle-aged women, clearly on movie night, were standing at the poster for the movie, talking about the actors (The dreamy TLJ I reckon). As we walked past, one lady called out "Do you think you got that movie?" She was talking to us.
So, we started talking to them about what we thought the filmakers intended and what we thought about it. And by jove, I think we helped them understand.
But ironically, the thing they didn't get, was what we both thought was rather the point and what made it smart, the misdirection of telling you EXACTLY what would happen and letting you convince yourself something else might.
Sooo good. And we helped older people. Yay.
